General Description:
Reconstruction Experts (RE), a leading provider of reconstruction services to the occupied property market, is seeking an Associate Counsel. RE currently operates in Colorado, California, Texas, and Florida and continues to pursue further growth both within its current geographies as well as new regions.
The Associate Counsel provides a wide range of legal counsel and services across our growing company with an emphasis on drafting and negotiating construction contracts. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience with blend of in house or firm experience.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITES:
- Responsible for reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts and other legal documents in all facets of the business.
- Advise, explain, interpret, and provide guidance to management, production personnel and sales team members on contracts, RFPs and other legal matters.
- Develop and revise standardized contract templates and other tools to assist staff.
- Work with regional personnel on legal documentation and communications necessary to protect the corporate interest during construction operations.
- Manage subcontractor defaults, claims, disputes and lien matters.
- Assist accounting department in collections, issue demand letters and file liens when necessary.
- Respond to subpoenas and oversee production and objections in response thereto as needed.
- Complete special projects as needed.
- Perform other duties assigned by the General Counsel.
Work Experience and Skills:
- Minimum 1 - 3 years of legal experience as an associate attorney required.
- Construction contracting experience preferred.
- Be able to sit for long periods of time in front of a computer.
- Be able to work up to 40 hours a week when required.
- Easily utilize Word, Excel, Outlook and other computer programs.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent Problem Solving Skills.
Education and Licensure Requirements:
Juris Doctorate and license to practice law in at least one of the following states: Colorado, California, Florida, and/or Texas
